Kate Middleton “Can’t Wait to Meet” Her New Niece, Lilibet

Kate Middleton  said, “I wish her all the best.”

The Duchess of Cambridge met with Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States, today while visiting a primary school in Cornwall. The pair talked about the importance of early childhood education there, but the Duchess of Cambridge also shared a sweet message about her new niece.

Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex welcomed Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor into the world on June 4th. Lili was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, because Harry and Meghan now live in California. Her aunt, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has yet to meet her, but she appears to be looking forward to it.

NBC journalist Andrea Mitchell asked Kate if she had any wishes for Lilibet during today’s press conference. “I wish her the best of luck. I’m excited to meet her because we haven’t met yet “The Duchess responded with a yes. “Hopefully, that’ll happen soon.”

Kate and Dr. Biden spent the day at Connor Downs Academy in Hayle, West Cornwall, where children aged four to eleven are educated. The two started the day by visiting the school’s Reception Class, which “uses child-led teaching to help its pupils develop as independent, confident, and successful learners,” according to a statement. The Duchess and the First Lady took part in a variety of classroom activities as well.

The Duchess of Cambridge and the First Lady are both passionate about early childhood education. During Kate’s time as Duchess, she has made it a priority. Dr. Biden, too, is dedicated to expanding opportunities for children in their early years, having witnessed firsthand the value of education during her time as an English professor and former high school teacher and reading specialist.
