An excited Prince Philip on a mini-tricycle races young Prince Charles and Princess Anne in footage from Queen Elizabeth’s private collection released over the weekend, while a young Elizabeth dashes behind, trying to keep up.

Philip can also be seen rowing on a lake with his youngest son, Prince Edward, and relaxing with his children by a lake — possibly in Scotland, where he famously used to BBQ during the family’s summer vacations.

“We were fortunate to have him for nearly a century,” Prince Charles says.

The clips are from the BBC’s upcoming documentary Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers, which honours the Duke of Edinburgh’s life (airing September 22 on BBC One).

For the show, Prince William and Prince Harry are interviewed alongside their cousins (Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle did not take part).

William, 39, says, “He’s always been a huge presence behind everything we’ve done.”

Harry, 36, adds: “With my grandfather, you get exactly what you see. He was himself, no apologies.”

More than a dozen members of the royal family gave “personal thoughts and reflections as they pay a historic tribute to the extraordinary life” of Philip, who died on April 9 — just two months before his 100th birthday — according to the BBC.

The documentary, produced by Oxford Films, which also produced the critically acclaimed Queen at 90 five years ago, was created to commemorate the centennial and includes interviews shot both before and after Philip’s death.

The BBC added in a statement, “With special access to the Queen’s private cine-film collection, this film is an unrivalled portrait of a man with a unique place in royal history — by those who knew him best.”

Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers premieres on BBC One on September 22.
