Kate Middleton and the Queen share heartfelt congratulations to US Open winner Emma Raducanu

Following her victory in the women’s US Open final, Kate Middleton sent a personal message to British tennis player Emma Raducanu.

In a nail-biting match in front of 24,000 fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on Saturday, the 18-year-old took on Canadian tennis star Leylah Fernandez, 19.

Following her win, she took to Twitter. Kate expressed herself this way: “Congratulations on your incredible performances and historic Grand Slam win, @EmmaRaducanu!

“Wow—we’re all incredibly proud of you.”

“Congratulations on your incredible achievements at this year’s #USOpen, it’s been a pleasure to watch,” she continued.

The tweet was signed off with the letter “C,” which stands for Catherine, the Duchess’ full name.

The Queen lent her support as well, writing: “I’d like to express my heartfelt congratulations on winning the US Open Tennis Championships.

“It’s an incredible accomplishment for someone so young, and it’s a testament to your dedication and hard work. I am confident that your and your opponent Leylah Fernandez’s outstanding performances will inspire the next generation of tennis players.”

“I send my warmest good wishes to you and your many supporters,” she concluded, signing off “Elizabeth R.”

Kate’s tweet is the second in the last week in which she has expressed her support for the young tennis star.

Emma, from Bromley, became the first female qualifier to reach a Grand Slam singles final since 1977, prompting the royal to send a message on Friday.

She sent out the following tweet: “@EmmaRaducanu, congratulations on a fantastic performance at this year’s #USOpen! Tomorrow, we’ll be cheering you on. Best wishes!”

Kate is an avid tennis player and was appointed patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 2016 after the Queen stepped down.

Emma is the first British woman to reach a Grand Slam final since Virginia Wade in 1953. She is now ranked 23rd in the world, after being ranked outside the top 300 just three months ago.
