Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Insist They Did Not ‘Reignite Rift’ With Queen Elizabeth

News of a rift with other royals has been a topic of discussion since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down as senior royals and leave their life in the United Kingdom behind. When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down with Oprah Winfrey for their explosive primetime special, reports of feuds with certain members of the family intensified.

Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family has been updated to include what has happened since that conversation with the legendary talk show host. The Sussexes, however, are said to have “reignited a rift” with Queen Elizabeth II. The couple has retaliated by contacting their attorneys.

The claim made in updated chapter of ‘Finding Freedom’

A year after the original Finding Freedom was published, an updated version is set to be released, and it’s already making headlines thanks to an excerpt published in People Magazine. The book excerpt discusses the accusation made by the Sussexes during their interview with Oprah that a senior royal inquired about and expressed concerns about Archie’s skin colour. According to the report, the duke and duchess are dissatisfied with the lack of “accountability” within the family.

“The queen’s ‘recollections may vary’ comment did not go unnoticed by the couple, who, a close source said, were ‘not surprised’ that full ownership was not taken,” Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote. Meghan’s friend added, ‘Months later, little accountability has been taken.’ ‘How are you going to proceed with that?’

Attorneys for Meghan and Harry decided to “distance them from those claims and threatened legal action should any media outlet suggest they had reignited a rift with the queen,” according to the New Zealand Herald.

2.What did author Omid Scobie have to say about the excerpt on Twitter?

Scobie has long been regarded as the pair’s public face. Although the journalist has stated that this is not the case, he is thought to be a close friend of Meghan and Harry’s and even attended their private farewell engagement in the United Kingdom.

He took to Twitter to reiterate that the new chapter’s information comes from a “source.”

“[The Sussexes] created this issue themselves,” an insider told the Daily Beast. Scobie has become their unofficial spokesman as a result of their conversations with him, and people believe him.”

Some have speculated that the prince’s threat of legal action is merely a publicity stunt to promote the latest edition of the biography or to bring the Sussexes’ allegations of racism against a senior royal back into the spotlight.

Were Prince Harry and Meghan the sources for the book?

With this news and the reissue of Finding Freedom, the question of where the majority of the information in the book came from resurfaces. Due to the amount of detail that can’t come from just anyone, many people believe Meghan and Harry were the sources because Scobie is the co-author of the book.

The duke and duchess, as well as Scobie, have denied any involvement, telling The Times: “The book does not claim to have any interviews with Harry and Meghan.” Neither do we.”

Many royal fans, however, are sceptical, especially after it was revealed that Meghan did provide information to the authors in order to correct the storey about her father, Thomas Markle, because she did not want any “misrepresentation.” Given that Finding Freedom is such a pro-Sussex biography, a number of royal watchers have pointed out that the duchess could have certainly given much more information.
