Meghan Markle’s Most Surprising ‘The Tig’ Posts From Her Girl Crush to What She Wrote About Kate Middleton Before Meeting Harry

Meghan Markle used to work as an actor on the legal drama Suits before she met Prince Harry. She also ran The Tig, a lifestyle blog. She ended the project in 2017 before marrying the prince, as it was a labor of love. “After nearly three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig…,” she wrote in her final post. Continue to seek out those Tig moments of discovery, to laugh and to take risks, and to be the change you want to see in the world. Above all, remember your worth — as I’ve repeatedly told you: “You, my sweet friend, you are enough.”

Now, we’re taking a look back at some of the Duchess of Sussex’s most surprising posts before she became a royal, including her crush on a queen and what she said about her future sister-in-law before she even met Prince Harry.

Meghan admitted to having a crush on a queen.

No, not at all, queen! Meghan admitted to having a crush on a TV character who played a queen.

Meghan interviewed Elizabeth Hurley, who played Queen Helena on The Royals, before becoming a royal herself, according to The Sun.

Meghan wrote in 2015, “I can’t begin to tell you about my girl crush on Elizabeth Hurley.” “Well, yes, I can, and I sincerely desire to do so. So bear with me for a moment. Perhaps, like the rest of the world, it began with that Versace safety pin dress. Perhaps it was her natural grace and class, or the high slit, low neck, and oh-so-virtuous teeny diamond cross around her neck in the 1990s. I wish I could tell you that my 17-year-old self didn’t try to recreate this look for prom, but the photos, oh the photos, would prove me wrong. Liz Hurley has always appealed to me in every way.”

In 2014, the wife of the Duke of Sussex wrote a blog post about Prince William’s wife and future sister-in-law Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

“All little girls want to be princesses. Meghan wrote (via Hello! ), “I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power.” “She-Ra is He-twin Man’s sister and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength, for those unfamiliar with the 1980s cartoon reference. We’re not talking about the story of Cinderella here. This childhood fantasy appears to be retained by grown women. Consider the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding, as well as the never-ending discussion about Princess Kate.”

Meghan’s New Year’s resolution was to, among other things, stop cursing.

Another post from the duchess’s now-defunct blog that was discovered in the archives was about her 2016 New Year’s resolution.

“Run a marathon,” the entry says. Please don’t bite my nails. Stop cursing. Re-learn French if you haven’t already. Almost (but not quite) every year, these make my list of New Year’s resolutions. The marathon has not taken place. The swearing comes in fits and starts, triggered by being overworked or feeling particularly cheeky after a few drinks. Then there’s French, which I learned in high school but forgot as I became immersed in speaking Spanish with the Argentinians during my time in Buenos Aires. Every year, I put my little Rosetta Stone headset in my eager ears, vowing to do interviews in French, but it hasn’t stuck, much to my dismay. And when it comes to nail biting, it still happens when you’re on a bumpy flight or having a stressful day. It’s unwomanly. But then there’s the swearing. Dammit.”

Meghan wrapped up her post by stating that her 2016 New Year’s resolution was to “leave room for magic.” Later that year, she met Prince Harry.
