We can finally breathe a sigh of relief now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s second child, Lilibet “Lili” Diana, has been added royal family. On top of that, they also fixed a major error on their official website.
We came across Markle’s bio on the digital platform earlier this week, which describes her ties to the royal family. There was an obvious error in the second sentence regarding the number of children she has.
It stated, “The Duke and Duchess of Windsor have one child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.” The information was obviously false, as Prince Harry and Markle welcomed their first child, Lilibet, on June 4th.
The royal family must have noticed the error because it was fixed a few days later. “The Duke and Duchess of Windsor have two children, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor,” it now says.
So, why did the error go unnoticed at first? Our first thought is that the Duchess of Sussex is not a member of the royal family. She and Prince Harry had previously resigned as members of the royal family’s senior ranks. As a result, the couple closed their Sussex Royal business and moved to Montecito, California. Perhaps Markle’s bio isn’t as important now that they’re no longer tied to official duties.
Our second hypothesis is that it was simply forgotten to be updated. The royal family took more than a month to change the British line of succession to include the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s second child in the eighth position. (We weren’t sure if Lili would be added to the list because her parents are no longer active members of the family.)
Prince Harry’s biography, on the other hand, makes no mention of Markle, Archie, or Lilibet. Despite the fact that it goes into great detail about his philanthropic endeavours, it contains no information about his personal life, with the exception of a brief mention of his departure as a senior royal.
