Princess Diana Once Smacked Prince William in Front of His Schoolmates, Royal Expert Said

During her marriage to Prince Charles, Princess Diana gave birth to two sons. She was a progressive parent who eschewed many of the royals’ traditional parenting methods.

Diana, on the other hand, was said to be in favour of corporal punishment. She once hit her oldest son, Prince William, in front of his classmates, according to a royal expert.

Diana broke tradition by being a very hands-on parent. Traditionally, royals left childrearing to nannies.

She, for example, frequently dropped her children off at school, which was not something royals did. She also took them to fast-food restaurants, amusement parks, and movie theatres to give them a sense of normalcy in their lives.

She also wanted William and his brother, Prince Harry, to have a good understanding of the world. She did a lot of charity work to help the less fortunate, and she occasionally took her children with her.

In a 1995 interview with BBC’s Panorama, she said, “I’ve taken the children to all sorts of areas where I’m not sure anyone of that age in this family has been before.” “And they have knowledge – they may never use it, but the seed is planted, and I hope it grows because knowledge is power.”

Princess Diana is said to have slapped Prince William in front of his classmates.

Although Diana has been praised for some of her parenting efforts, there are some aspects of her upbringing that are rarely discussed. Diana, for example, is said to have smacked William during a sports day at his school.

“Her temper snapped when he ran away as she was about to leave after the events had ended,” Royal correspondent Ashley Walton wrote in 1990, according to Express. The seven-year-old Prince set off across a field with his Wetherby School sirens to play. Diana, visibly enraged, dashed 100 yards, caught him by the arm, and smacked him on the bottom.”

“William burst into tears,” Walton continued. After a good telling off, he was pushed back into the back of the royal car and driven back to Kensington Palace.”

Princess Anne also “publicly smacked” her son, Peter, when he was seven years old, according to the outlet.

Prince William has a unique approach to parenting.

Diana inspires William and his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, to be hands-on parents and provide a sense of normalcy for their children. William, on the other hand, is said to not use corporal punishment on his children.

“There is no ‘naughty step’ (British for time out),” a source told The Sun, “but there is a ‘chat sofa.’” “The misbehaving child is whisked away from the commotion and calmly spoken to by either Kate or William. Things are explained to them, and the consequences are outlined, but they are never yelled at.”

William and Kate are known for championing mental health causes, so it’s no surprise that they try to look after their children’s emotional well-being.
