On Saturday, Prince William surprised royal fans by sending a rare personal tweet to the British and Irish Lions, wishing them luck in their first test match.
Prince William is a big sports fan, so he couldn’t help but send his best wishes to the rugby union team as they prepare to face South Africa in Cape Town.
“Best wishes to the @Lionsofficial team ahead of the first Test in Cape Town! It’s fantastic to see @AlunWynJones fit and healthy again, ready to take the reins of the team. W., “He sent out a tweet.
William was referring to Welsh rugby player Alun Wyn Jones, who dislocated his shoulder in June during a match against Japan but has made a miraculous recovery and is now back captaining the team.
The Duke of Cambridge shared his special message via the official Twitter account for himself and the Duchess of Cambridge, @KensingtonRoyal.
Many Royal fans reacted positively to William’s post, with many expressing their joy that Alun is back on the team. One person responded, ” “Alun Wyn Jones, aka @AlunWynJones, is a force to be reckoned with. A fantastic leader for both Wales and BIL.”
“Where are you having a pint William?” joked another. “My favorite couple his and hers RH have a good day,” a third added.
This isn’t the first time William has sent a personal message through the social networking site. He took to Twitter again in June to express his delight at the Euros 2020 finally being held after a year of delay.
He wrote: “Finally it’s here! #Euro2020 I wish all of the Home Nations competing this summer the best of luck, and I am looking forward to a fantastic tournament! W.” At the end of his tweet, the Duke tagged @Cymru, @England, and @ScotlandNT.
Fans were convinced that Prince William, who is the President of the Football Association, would be unable to refrain from tweeting about such a historic sporting event.
“I was waiting for your tweet,” one wrote, while another said, “I knew you’d tweet about it.”
