Meghan Markle used her full legal name on her daughter’s birth certificate, which reads Rachel Meghan Markle. This is in stark contrast to Archie Harrison’s birth certificate, which included Meghan’s royal title.
TMZ obtained the birth certificate from Santa Barbara County in California.
It confirmed the information about Lili’s birth that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had already provided in their statement, which was released two days after the baby’s birth.
Lili was born on June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, under the care of the doctors and staff.
In the last name field of Lili’s birth certificate, Prince Harry is listed as “His Royal Highness.”
Prince Harry and Meghan kept their full royal titles after their decision to step down as senior royals.
After stepping down as full-time members of the Firm at the end of March 2020, they agreed to stop using their HRH styles.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain members of the Royal Family and remain named and titled, as such,” a Sussex spokesperson said in a statement released by Buckingham Palace in early 2020.
“As stated in the January announcement, they will formally retain their titles of ‘His/Her Royal Highness’ beginning in the spring but will no longer use their ‘HRH’s.”
Meghan and Harry have also lost royal and military patronage as a result of Megxit.
The use of Prince Harry’s HRH style at Kensington Palace caused some confusion among the organizers of the Royal Style in the Making exhibition.
The wedding gown of Princess Diana is one of the exhibits on display.
According to the placard at the exhibition, this was lent for the display by the princess’s sons William and Harry.
However, when naming the Duke of Sussex on the placard, the Royal Collection Trust, which oversaw the loan, used the HRH style incorrectly.
The Trust referred to the error as a “administrative error,” and the placard was later updated to read: “Lent by HRH The Duke of Cambridge and The Duke of Sussex.”
Prince Harry and Meghan used their HRH styles on their son Archie’s birth certificate, which was issued on May 6, 2019, while they were still full-time royals.
The Duchess’s two names and title were presented in the original document, which was released on May 17, 2019.
“Rachel Meghan, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex,” it stated.
“His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex,” read the name field for Prince Harry.
The birth certificate had been altered on June 5, 2019, as previously reported, with changes to both Meghan and Harry’s name fields.
The title “prince” was added by the Duke of Sussex, which had previously been left out.
Meghan’s name field, on the other hand, was edited to remove all but her full title, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.
Prince Harry left California yesterday evening, three weeks after Lili’s birth, to attend the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue.
Because he is traveling from an amber-list country, Harry will have to self-isolate for five days.
The unveiling will take place on July 1 at Kensington Palace.
