Prince William has shared a video of himself flying a drone over London’s skyline. The footage was posted to Cambridge’s official Instagram account with the caption “@earthshotprize news coming later this week…”
The video was shot over the Duke’s shoulder as he controlled the aerial device and lasts only a few seconds.
As the drone flies above the trees, William is wearing a light-blue shirt and can be seen gazing into the distance.
The trailer clip has piqued the interest of royal watchers, and many have taken to social media to express their delight.
“Can’t wait!” wrote one Instagram user.
“I’m really excited about this project,” said a third.

The Earthshot Prize is currently being run by the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with the goal of incentivizing change and planet repair over the next decade.
The award, which was formally launched in October 2020 by Prince William and Sir David Attenborough, has been dubbed the “most prestigious global environment prize in history.”
Over the next ten years, £50 million will be awarded to the project in the search for environmental solutions.
At the event, William acknowledged that his latest initiative was “certainly ambitious” and that it had taken him 18 months to come up with.
The Duke expressed his hope that Earthshot would act as a “catalyst” for environmental change and give people “a glimmer of hope” that things could get better.
“We felt that the one piece of the jigsaw puzzle that was possibly missing was positivity,” he said.
“I had the impression that there are a lot of people who want to do a lot of good things for the environment, and all they need is a little bit of a catalyst, a little bit of hope, a little bit of optimism that we can actually fix what’s being presented.
“And I believe that combining urgency with optimism motivates people to take action. As a result, the Earthshot prize is all about channeling that optimism and urgency into finding solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental issues.”
William, who was also inspired by his father for the project, warned that these are “grave times for the environment.”
“We believe this decade will be one of the most critical decades for the environment,” he added. And by 2030, we hope to have made significant progress in addressing some of the world’s most pressing issues.
“We need some hope, some optimism, because if we don’t, it’s all too much, and everything is very apocalyptic.
“We are living in perilous times for the environment. But I believe in human ingenuity, and I believe in the younger generations speaking up now to say that this lack of hope will not be tolerated.”
The Earthshot Prize is focused on five “Earthshots,” which include environmental protection and restoration, cleaner air, reviving oceans, creating a waste-free world, and addressing climate change.
